Attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a mental disorder often diagnosed in children. The disorder’s main characteristics include inattentiveness, hyperactivity, impulsiveness, or a combination of qualities. ADHD isn’t easy to diagnose. Some children without the complete disorder have these symptoms. However, if certain symptoms are present for at least 6 months and if the symptoms make it difficult for a child to function at school, home or in social situations, then ADHD may be present.
