Ask Dr. Mona- Hyperthyroid & Graves Disease

Added: February 11, 2009 | Time 00:55 | Views: 465

Question for Dr. Mona: I got to diagnosed with a hyper thyroid. The doc said it is auto immune disease. Which causes which? I am only 33 this year, am I too young to get it? The joints on my hands (and I suspect knees too) are painful and swollen. My GP said he will not prescribe any medicine for my pain as I will be seeing the thyroid specialist next week so that the specialist will assess my condition better. Will the auto immune disease (the doc said mine is graves disease) lead to another fatal sickness? I am so worried tat my life is not long. How long will the patient with auto immune disease survived? Please advise.
Thanking u in advance.
