Cardiovascular Disease and Statin Drugs

Researchers reported that a cholesterol-fighting statin drug, brand name Crestor, reduces the risk of heart attack, stroke, and cardiovascular disease by about half in people who do not have high cholesterol. The study, funded by Crestor-maker, AstraZeneca, looked at nearly 18,000 men and women with elevated levels of a protein associated with heart disease.
