Granulation Tissue in the Breast: Ask Dr. Mona

Added: June 23, 2009 | Time 01:07 | Views: 210

Dr. Mona I have a question about granulation tissue in the breast. I had a mass that was 10 cm by 6 cm come up, literally overnight. It swelled and was red and very sore. I went to the clinic that day and they sent me to a surgeon that day. He put me on two rounds of antibiotics. The swelling and redness went down that day before I started the antibiotics. I did the two rounds and it was down-- but only slightly. I had a biopsy done and he told me that they found granulation tissue. He said they immediately tested for tuberculosis, but it was negative. I have an appointment with a disease specialist, but he's on vacation and it will be a month before I can get in. Can give me some information: on granulation tissue in the breast, what disease or condition this might be, and what health risks this could present?
