Question for Dr. Mona:
I have a friend who works at a hospital and had blood splatter everywhere from a patient. The patient had hepatitis b and c. She was vaccinated against hepatitis b. They tested her and they said she had antibodies which I guess you’re supposed to have. What tests do they normally run for hepatitis b when a person has exposure? I know that the surface antibody tests for immunity, but do they test for the core antibody normally after exposure? I read that the core antibody detects if someone has a past or present infection.
