Researchers identify gene abnormalities linked to vision loss in old age

Macular degeneration is the leading cause of blindness in people over age 55, and leads to vision loss in about one out of four people over age 75. But not everyone who has macular degeneration loses their eyesight. Now, researchers have figured out the genetics behind the vision loss.
