I think any fluid is preferable to no fluids, but the preference would be water first. The rationale behind drinking fluids is that we tend to decrease eating and drinking when we don't feel well, which puts our body on the road to dehydration. Sugary fluids MAY be dehydrating to some.

I've heard that you should "not" drink juices when you have the flu... something about the sugars. Anyone heard differently?
