Organ Donation - A Patient's Perspective

Added: January 16, 2008 | Time 04:11 | Views: 3,886

UPDATE (November 2007): We are happy to report that Corinne has received her transplant and is doing great!

Corinne Jakubiec is 18 years-old and has been waiting for a kidney transplant for over 2 years. She is currently attending Elgin Community College and helping spread the word about Donate Life Illinois and the importance of joining Illinois' new organ/tissue donor registry.

This video is a look into Corinne's life...a life that is unfamiliar to most college students but one that 4,700 other Illinois residents and over 97,000 people nationwide experience everyday waiting for a transplant.

-----------------------------------
Donate Life Illinois campaign is a coalition of statewide donation agencies in Illinois working on a campaign to register 3.5 million Illinois residents as lifesaving organ/tissue donors in the state's new first-person consent registry by April 2008.

Remember, you need to RE-REGISTER post Jan. 1, 2006 in Illinois to ensure your wishes as a donor. Signing the back of your driver's license is no longer adequate to ensure these wishes.

To register and for more information about the campaign, visit www.IAmAreYou.org or www.DonateLifeIllinois.org

*Non-Illinois residents can register at www.ShareYourLife.org
