What is ovarian cancer?

Added: August 7, 2008 | Time 00:52 | Views: 958

It’s the fifth leading cause of cancer deaths in women. Ovarian cancer begins in one or both of the ovaries…the reproductive glands in women that produce eggs. One of the reasons many women who are diagnosed with ovarian cancer die of its complications is the symptoms are nonspecific. Women sometimes shrug them off and doctors can’t narrow them down specifically to the ovaries. Those symptoms include a heavy feeling in the abdominal area, gas, nausea, vomiting, vaginal bleeding and weight gain or loss. The treatment for ovarian cancer is surgery which is usually preceded or followed by chemotherapy. Watch more video about ovarian cancer or share your story or experience on video with icyou.
