What are pediatrics?

Added: August 7, 2008 | Time 00:57 | Views: 206

Children are not little adults. They have unique qualities and characteristics – and unique medical needs. That’s why an entire medical specialty is built for kids. Pediatricians are medical doctors who have specialized training in evaluating, diagnosing and treating children. There are even pediatric subspecialists…medical doctors who treat certain body systems or specialized diagnoses in kids, like the heart and blood vessels, or cancer. Not only is pediatrics involved in common childhood issues like ear infections; oftentimes, the consequences of subtle birth defects show up through suboptimal development…and pediatricians are trained to spot those abnormalities as well. Watch more video about pediatrics here or share your story or experience on video with icyou.
