What is sleep?

We used to recommend that people get 8 or more hours of sleep each day, but recent data indicates that the ideal sleep time is different for everyone. What we do know is that you should be able to fall and stay asleep within a half an hour of going to bed, you should feel refreshed upon awakening, and that you shouldn’t feel sleepy during your waking hours. Many sleep disorders exist, though, including sleep apnea, which can put you at risk for heart disease. Watch video about sleep or share your story or experience on video with icyou.
