Sinusitis Surgery

Added: November 27, 2007 | Time 02:08 | Views: 538

Jay Dolitsky MD FAAP, Clinical Professor of Otolaryngology NY Medical College and
Director of Pediatric Otolaryngolgy at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary discusses when surgery is needed for children with sinus problems. For example, when they have been treated with a month of antibiotics with nasal spray, a lavage and didn’t improve. He recommends evaluating them for allergies and their immune system, and reflux because these things can cause sinus infections. The first step in surgery is to remove the adenoids and next sinus surgery is needed if sinus problems are still found on a cat scan. The surgery should only be done after a full work up is completed; abnoids are removed, and if a cat scans still show problems. For more information, visit www.DrMDK.com
