High levels of homocysteine in the blood have been associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease and stroke. Researchers in Norway studied whether using B vitamins such as folic acid and B twelve to lower homocysteine levels could help prevent cardiovascular events in patients. While homocysteine levels did improve, overall risk for patients did not.
